This series is an embodiment of breakthroughs. Each person's discovery, or realization or accomplishment has changed our community. A collection of each individual's history, in relation to my growth as an artist and as a person. Some of us have not met but we are a family brought together by the shared experience of community at the Etobicoke School of the Arts. Current students, graduates, different races, and ages, living among many countries, making different art. Painters and published authors, all artists, and amazing people. Through the process of each piece, the relationship between myself and the individual I painted grew stronger. My work is only possible because of the vulnerability, empathy, and clarity these people have. This body of work is not just mine, it’s our community's. The consistency of love and support from this community has provided me with a feeling of safety. This safety was taken when the world went into lockdown. This series allows me to grow and change in alignment with my work, to build relationships; creating a feeling of connection, community, and safety throughout the global lockdowns despite physical separation.
